Event Outline

When a ship is deliberately scuttled and the cargo lost in consequence, do the ordinary rules of remoteness of damage apply to the claim? Does “fraud unravel all” when cargo is deliberately damaged or lost, so that the cargo owner can recover losses caused? Does it matter if the claim is in negligence, and how does any contract affect the position between the parties? These questions have arisen in arbitration disputes and Sir Jeremy with years of experience in shipping law offers his answers.
