Event Outline

This course will look at recent developments in the law of marine insurance. Issues which have arisen for decision include General Average with a case unusually requiring a ruling from the UK Supreme Court on the York-Antwerp Rules overturning a longstanding misunderstanding by practitioners and leading commentators. Definitive ground-breaking judgments of the UK Supreme Court on fraudulent claims and illegality of contracts will be discussed.
