When someone experiences burnout, he or she is most likely to have been exposed to prolonged or repeated stress, leading to being in a state of exhaustion in a mental, emotional, and physical capacity. It is important to recognise the signs of burnout so an employee may realise when it is necessary to seek treatment or make changes to one’s own lifestyle and working habits. Ensuring a healthy work-life balance and engaging in self-care practices are some measures which will be discussed.
