Event Outline

The Singapore Penal Code has been amended in recent years to criminalize sexual violence in a more comprehensive manner but, legislative amendments may not guarantee fair and effective prosecution of sexual offences. The Panel considers some of the common stereotypes/prejudices encountered in the trials of sexual offences in Singapore and other common law jurisdictions and will discuss ways to address and overcome the risk of gender stereotyping and prejudice when dealing with sexual offences.
