Event Outline

The regulation of GMOs lies within the framework of human rights, legal principles and interests at stake. The global race to appropriate genetic resources through IP rights, puts small farmers at risk, especially in developing countries. The emergence of technologies and the monopolization of CRISPR patents could further threaten agricultural sustainability/food security, highlighting the need for equitable access to genetic technologies and legal approaches that ensure global food security.
