Event Outline

Meat production in industrialised nations today is unrecognisable compared to the past 11,000 years of livestock domestication. This lecture outlines harms from intensive meat production to consumers, workers, neighboring communities, animals, ecosystems, and the global atmosphere, yet the sector faces few regulatory controls. We will discuss the possibilities/controversies of alternative proteins as less harmful substitutes, and humanity’s moral and legal obligations to the nonhuman world.
